Catch Up by the Coffee Machine – Roshini Lal

Catch Up by the Coffee Machine was conducted with Roshini Lal, our Marketing Coordinator, this week.  She joined Avamore in September 2019 and has made a notable impact on the company’s brand image.
Our Marketing Manager, Sabinder sat down with her to catch up about some of her favourite things about working at Avamore.

  1. What do you like most about your job and why?

R: I like that I have the opportunity to be creative. Although the property industry is relatively traditional, Avamore has given me the scope to push the boundaries and think outside the box.

  1. What is your favourite book and why?

R: This might be a cliché but one of my favourite books is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I like that it isn’t what you expect it to be – it ends tragically and defies what people expect from a book. People always think there will be a happy ending which is not always realistic.


  1. Describe your job in 3 words and explain why you chose these words?

R: I would describe my job using the following words:
Spontaneous – My job requires me to do a lot of different things; it’s constantly changing.
Organised – As I have to deal with a lot of things at once, it is essential to stay organised.
Rewarding – In some businesses you cannot see the direct impact of marketing; however, I always feel like I am part of the successes at Avamore and that is really rewarding.

  1. Why did you choose a career in the property industry?

R: I always knew I wanted to go into a role that let me be creative but I also always wanted to challenge myself. This is an industry that I had no prior experience in and since starting at Avamore, I have been on a steep learning curve. I have learnt so much in such a short period of time and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

  1. What do you do outside of the office?

R: I love to travel – weekends away are my favourite thing!

  1. What do you think 2020 looks like for Avamore?

R: I think 2020 is looking like an exceptional year for Avamore. Even though it’s only February, we have closed our largest deal to date, worth c.£13.1m, and been shortlisted as Lender of the Year at the Property Awards!

  1. If you weren’t in Marketing, what would you be doing?

R: I would probably be doing something within marine biology. I have such an affinity for sea animals and would love to help with some kind of ocean conservation project.

  1. Describe Avamore in one word and describe why you picked that work?

R: Responsive – Avamore is responsive to the needs of the market. The Finish & Exit was launched in response to the challenges that developers face with part-complete schemes.
Not only this, the internal flat structure means that whenever you have a question or are in need of help, there is always someone to offer advice.

  1. What is your favourite thing about the office environment at Avamore?

R: Since starting at Avamore, everybody has been eager to help me learn and for that I am grateful!

  1. What part of marketing do you enjoy most?

R: I enjoy all of it but I particularly love the content copywriting. SEO analysis is really interesting and has made me vigilant of how I communicate things without overcomplicating them.
